Lawrence “Bobby” Moatz Reed, 86 years young passed away on February 27, 2017 at Inova Loudoun Hospital. Born on August 29, 1930 in Round Hill, Virginia he was the son of the late Alice Moatz Reed and Joseph Franklin Reed.

Bobby worked at Virginia Power for 37 years. He was a Korean War Veteran, having served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Ketoctin Baptist Church, Harley Owners Group, Shenandoah Valley Steam and Gas Engine Association, National Rifle Association, Moose Lodge, and Leetown Gun Club.

Bobby enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on his John Deere tractors and riding them in parades. Another exciting joy in his recent years was making homemade ice cream for family parties and friends using his unique John Deere hit & miss ice cream maker. One of his favorite passions was his Harley Davidsons which he began riding at the age of 14 and continued for 72 years. His first motorcycle adventure was riding down Route 7 in Round Hill, VA in 1944 on an Indian. He never forgot that adventure and fulfilled a dream in 2015 when he purchased an Indian Chief Vintage!

He is survived by his wife Clare whom he married on June 7, 1980 at Ketoctin Baptist Church; two sons, Billy Reed and wife Vicky of Berryville, VA and Steve Reed and wife Lizzie of Leesburg, VA; four grandchildren, Laura Reed Magaha and husband Jason of Charles Town, WV; Harley Reed and wife Angela, Sean Reed, and Randy Reed all of Berryville, VA; and three great-grandchildren Hayden and Huntley Reed of Berryville, VA and Kate Magaha of Charles Town, WV. He also had three step-children Dr. Lora Wormuth of New Orleans, LA, Brett Langefels of Marietta, GA and Troy Langefels of Lathrop, CA; and seven step-grandchildren, Blake, Joshua, Jonathon, Christopher, Maddie, Sarah, and Samuel. He was predeceased by his brother Jimmy Reed.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, Purcellville, VA. Services were at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 3, 2017. Burial followed in Ketoctin Cemetery.
